Wow! Must be some loft you have there if it will take an eighteen foot vertical! My loft would barely take an orbitor or something.

Re: promote cb

i dont know why they dont bring the linces back so then you would not get the muppets as mutch Having used CB: - before Licences existed (pre-1981, using American "Aunty Mary" sets), - After Licences in 1981, - After Expanded Bands in 1997 - and After Licences were abolished in 2006 the one thing t...

Re: oh dear its not working

the extension cable was a thunderpole purchase so it cant be that I wouldn't say "can't be", as even Thunderpole might occasionally have a faulty bit of kit . . . say "shouldn't be" or "unlikely to be" ;) Just check the SWR on the fitted rig... That'll at least tell you whether the problem is in th...

Re: oh dear its not working

It sounds to me like your connection to the new Springer and Mount is faulty. If that "extension cable" has a dodgy connector on it it means the rig isn't reaching the aerial. You will hear your other rig, outside the car, as it is very very close and the rig would pick that up with virtually no aer...

Yes, Ed uses a Tank-whip for static mobile if the weather's too foul for him to raise the Antron. I've had a good contact on ground wave with Ed while he's had the tank-whip up, over about 30 miles on SSB.

Re: Sigma Mantova Turbo Antenna?

Or you could look at the new upgraded 827 That's News Fish. I've not seen, or not noticed, an "upgraded" version of the 827, where might I find the details of that? I'm very aware of the imminent Winter Months, and the Autumnal winds.... Sometimes, here, on a bad day, the wind's strong enough to da...

Re: Sigma Mantova Turbo Antenna?

It's a tough one. [A] Go with the proven, well-liked and good DX antenna, the 827? Or take a chance on a new one, that no-body's ever heard of, that might fold-up in the wind, and might have the DX power of a piece of wet-string? That just happens to cost more. But, of course, the new one MIGHT be s...
