Re: Calling channels for AM + SSB
I'm in favour of adopting whatever AM/SSB calling channels and conventions our European friends use, as after all, we are only getting AM/SSB legalised in this country because of their efforts.

If you are interested in running a radio forum - go for it and the very best of luck.
If you are interested in participating in a long established radio forum, try http://www.transmission1.co.uk and their forums, they've already done all the hard work and have well over 4000 members.

Re: What is the purpose of an amplifier???
So let me get this right, by adding an amplifier I can increase the range of transmissions to 20miles???? It might do, it all depends on what is in-between you and the other person you are trying to talk to. If you are in a dip, your range might be 2 miles, if you drive to the top of the highest lo...

Re: What is the purpose of an amplifier???
Get a better aerial before thinking about an amplifier. The aerial and a good installation makes all the difference. Your radio puts out 4W (the legal maximum), this is good for about 5-10 miles (depending on terrain) on a mobile setup. The amplifier takes the 4W and (illegally) 'amplifies' it to ab...

Re: CB Radio Re-Launch..What If????
...the long distant copy continues to elude me! It's all good, but the basic purpose of a UHF CB service is to provide local users with clear channels. Channels not clogged up with Russian Taxi controllers. I'm not saying you can't use your PMR446 radio or modified UHF walkie talkie to wash your ca...

Re: H-512 PLUS CB TRANSCEIVER
If you are trying to use it with just the supplied 'rubber duck' aerial, your range is going to be about 500 yards. Only height above any surrounding buildings/terrain will improve this very poor range. But not by much. Hand helds with tiny rubber duck antennas are not designed for range. You would ...

On average?
Maybe £80 for a simple guttering height T&K Bracket mount.
Depends on how desperate you look.

If you suffer from severe weather (very high winds and severe rain storms), you might want to look at something like the Thunderpole 5 (£67.50) or the Antron A99 (£69.99) or the Sirio Gain Master (£129.99) . These are all fibreglass encased antenna's and will stand up to severe weather over a goo...

Different people will give you different and often contradictory advice/reports on these multi-band verticals. Some people love 'em, others hate 'em. If you are stuck for space and need a single antenna that can 'sort of' work on many bands, then it might be the antenna for you. I think it comes dow...

Re: ES200 Mic and antenna connections
I believe you will find that you need a BNC to SO239 adaptor for attaching an external antenna. Something with a cable like this: eBay Linky or a simple plug adaptor like this: http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/adaptors/bnc-male-so239-adaptor.html The top of your radio looks like this, right? http://i65....
