Re: Absolute beginner, advice please?

Any suggestions of rigs and antenna's preferably those suitable for limited space or that I could attach to the pole that has my dual band antenna on top? Also something for the car as I may get better use of it then from a few view points my club uses for HF work.

Re: Absolute beginner, advice please?

Does this radio cover all the new frequencies? I notice most CB radios only show channel numbers but many people talk about the various frequencies - how do you figure out what channel is linked to which frequency?

Re: Absolute beginner, advice please?

What sort of range could someone get with this setup if the antenna is counted at ground level? And does this radio cover all the new frequencies that were opened to CB users recently? I've got my M6 amateur licence and also looking at other radio opportunities. I've got a 24ft pole mounted to the s...

Re: CB Radio's - Looking for info

I checked the specs. The Tedelex covers 9 channels starting at US channel 19 and the Royce covers 21 channels but I couldn't find out which US specs they covered. I'm trying to get more info. Maybe I could sell them on the US eBay site and try make a little money towards equipment for my hobby. I wa...

CB Radio's - Looking for info

I've recently come into possession of some old CB radio equipment and will be getting some more shortly (see list below). I'm not into CB radio yet and currently doing my amateur licence (all started from watching planes, then came the scanner, binoculars and bridge camera so who knows what is next)...

Car setup

Does anyone have a Vauxhall Corsa with a radio setup?

I'm trying to think of the best location due to the small amount of space.

Re: Help on Repeaters and OFFSETS

You can get a good list from http://ukscanningdirectory.co.uk/ - They can also do a list based on your post code (as well as listing Amateur repeaters by area) including many outside of the Baofeng's range however once started you might decide to get a scanner covering most available frequencies. Ch...

Re: Help on Repeaters and OFFSETS

I take it that being a novice, that you don't hold an Amateur Radio licence. If this is the case, off sets are irrelevant to receiving which is all you are allowed to do. I have a Baofeng UV-5R and I pick up a decent range on the repeaters. Put the RX frequency into the scanner as RX and TX to preve...

Re: Baofeng Radios on Ebay

I'm also fairly new to the radio scene however have spent a lot of time looking up info on the net and through forums. The models you have are a CB radio and PMR446 radio - both don't require a licence. Baofeng radio's cover UHF (400-480MHz) which covers 70cm Ham & PMR446 and some of them also cover...
