Checked with a known good mic and without a mic. The display would come on anyway without a mic would it not?

Hi all, I have a Uniden 400 PR27UK radio which is in excellent condition however it doesn't work. When switched on the signal meter bulb lights but no LED channel display. No sound and TX/RX lights stuck on. If I gently rub my finger over the audio IC there is a ruffling noise coming out of the spea...

A 68uf disk cap switched will bring it on or near to UK frequencies only not 1-40 readout. Otherwise it's an eprom and to be honest it isn't worth it IMHO

Hi all, I bought one of these off eBay and it looks in VCG cosmetically and inside the board is in good clean condition. I replaced the protection diode as a matter of course and testing it the removed diode was working fine so no signs of cross connection. no signs of 24v damage and no signs of but...

I would imagine the protection diode has gone short circuit basically kicking the power back out of the radio and blowing the fuse. Don't be tempted to put a bigger fuse in there as it may cause more serious problems. The diode in the radio needs replacing. Either that or the plug has been wired wro...
