yupiteru mt 7100 scanner , the bees knee , well worth investing in one if you see one for sale , walks all over these scanners that are about these days . thats why its held so highly on the reviews .

congratulations cam on passing the foundation , the yaesu ft857d is a lot easier to operate than the icom , if running mobile , get yourself the atas 120 mobile antenna. it compliments the yaesu well for all bands .
look forward sometime to working you on the bands .

ten metres still good , there are a lot of american repeaters coming through on fm, i had a contact with a chap in pennsylvania direct on 29mhz . also lots of american station on the cept cbradio band on ssb. had a couple of contacts into pretoria (south africa) and another into dubai on 10 metre ss...

just ran up a 10 meter radio from and 5/8 wave silver rod from thunderpole , and just worked a chap in pretoria ,south africa and another chap in dubai.
the radio setup works well on its 25 watts output.
very good band 10 metres.

the radio can have the all band transmit done very easily , i also have ft857d and atas120 on the car. only problem i found is that the radio loses the automatic repeater function. but this is no loss. radio transmit all bands and atas tunes cb frequencies no problem, also good on 446 tx

hi adam 2 metre base antennaes these days tend to not to be the norm, home base antennaes in general are dual band , ect 144/ 433mhz which will cover both 2mtrs / 70cms bands as in accordance with most radio used for this type of communications. have a look on the thunderpole site and you will see t...

on the radio is it set on the uk mode as all the inteks are in european mode channels ( cept ) . one or two of the european countrys have tx / rx disabled on the radio like RU mode ..look and check what country you have radio set to..

sorry to hear that your first outing into cb radio is giving you problems, new radio and all. the company should be more help full. not selling you more stuff and not curing the problem . if thats the case i would tell them you not happy, if they wont help.. get your money back and find a decent com...

have you thought of taking out the beehive mount and checking it, and try using a different hole mount base, remembering to make sure the connections on the underneath see clean metal to eath to .. .

a dual band 2mtr / 70 cms outdoor antenna works very well on scanners, plenty of gain on antenna, which makes discone look inadequate . also good for pmr 446 use as well.
