Re: Has everyone gone to the moon?

I think the only progression left for cb radio now is to have a decent VHF or UHF service to run alongside 11 metres....This has been raised on this forum many times over the years. The current 446 does not meet the needs of CB radio, not that it was ever intended to do so. So a new service with dec...

Re: Has everyone gone to the moon?

I also think the demise of local cb radio suppliers hasn't helped either....I used to pop into our local one for a chat and a look see what was new to the scene...The good suppliers were often radios hams who gave advice on setting up stations, our local would even erect antennas or install into a c...

Has everyone gone to the moon?

What a sad state cb radio is in....The younger generation are not inspired at all by two way radio comms, which brings me to the realization that radio cannot compete with modern tec and the internet anymore...I can see now that as the generation of those that loved cb radio pass away, it will pass ...

Re: Worth buying a rig?

My opinion is that without a positive attitude CB radio will eventually be non existent. There are good cber's to be found here and there.....But, they are thin on the ground. You need to be mobile, or on high ground to find them though....So unless you are into DX along with the other rig, twig and...

Re: A book about CB Radio and Eyeball Cards

Regarding Busby, and the old days of illegal CB radio. Having to keep an eye out for the law added spice to the fun we had with mobile operation...Having a DV 27 antenna attracted attention, so we were constantly on the lookout....police cars, and headlights at night made me feel like a WW2 spy and ...

Re: A book about CB Radio and Eyeball Cards

How's about QSL cards also?.....I had at least a hundred from around the UK and Europe..Sadly, I gave mine to my boy to play with when he was a little 'un.....How I regret it now!!......Yep, me and my old Nato 2000 certainly got everywhere 8-)

Re: Question is CB dead...or do you just have to have SSB

We have an old school am net in my part of the world which has been active for many years...I have always stayed true to am mode.....That's where it started with me. And that's where it will end with me! As for UHF handie talkies, I have yet to come across any with a twenty mile range, be they VHF/U...

Re: Question is CB dead...or do you just have to have SSB

The problem with 11 metres is that folks no longer call for a copy....Earwigging is the norm, so you never hear anybody on channel which in turn makes you switch off......There needs to be a concerted effort to encourage the use of channel 14 as a calling channel!! Will it happen? Probably not!........

Re: UK FM

I think you misunderstood me stampman....I am talking about the UK frequency....Currently FM only..I have heard nothing in regards to AM being made legal...Unless you know better :?: :?: :?: Nobody in my neck of the woods seems to think so..

UK FM

Should Ofcom relax its rules in regard to what modes of operation can be used on the UK band?? I ask because the new CRT 2000/Apollo radio is to be enabled with AM as well as FM on the UK allotment....I personally see no reason for multimode operation not to be used since it is legal to use on the p...

Re: The Big Net - 35 Years of Legal CB

Might just give UK FM a try.It has been a few years since I last used it. In my neck of the woods there are still a few of us old baddies who can be found on AM though. We are the last of the many AM'ers who spent our early years outrunning the authorities in our search for good buddies :)

Re: New Boxed Amastrad CB901 Radio Price

Hi Jackdexster....The Amstrad is only worth what you are prepared to pay for it...40 channels fm for £50 at the moment? No,I would not pay the asking price myself..Sellers on Ebay are asking silly money for old radios that have no guarantee that they even work. Having said that I can understand tho...
