Increasing power

Hi there, Are you able to describe which knob to turn on the circuit board or the schematics on how to slightly increase the power on my president johnson 2 i bought from yourselves a while ago. It only puts out 3 watts and hooked up to a 100 watt amplifier makes it only possible to transmit 45 watt...

Re: static problems

I can almost guarantee it's the substation giving you the problem! Not sure what to suggest but good luck. Stewart

Re: static problems

I had this exact same problem when I had a base station a few years ago, I had a Harvard home base and silver rod right on top of the chimney, for years it worked brilliantly, spoke for miles! then all of a sudden one day I was receiving 5 pounds of static and never got rid of it! I put it down to a...

Coax help

Hi all, I hav posted some questions on my coax length previously under the antennas section but nobody seems to want to reply :( Could anyone tell me, does it make a difference on the length of you coax between your cb and your aerial? For example can I use a 50cm length of mini 8 rather than a 4m l...

Re: Am or fm

Im a tractor tractor myself in the north east of Scotland and work for a contractor with a small fleet of tractors and we work CBS for communication, channel 9. There's lots of tipper truck company's around here and they all work CBS too, some have there own channel and ul find some on 19 if they wo...

Re: Am or fm

No not atall. The general understanding is that the majority of cb users in the uk use 27mhz FM, from tipper drivers to tractor divers and car drivers to dx'ers alike its FM. Only the extreme dx'ers sway onto midbands and AM. You only have to look at the cbs for sale on this site. Stewart.

Coax cable length

Hi there. I wonder if you all could answer some questions on the length of my coax. As my cb sits in the right hand corner of my tractor cab and my aerial is on the right hand mirror arm I have them joined together with a 50cm length of RG213 coax so relitavly short and the swr is excellent, the rea...

Re: CB Radio Re-Launch..What If????

so how come 40 channel UHF CB RADIOS work so well in New Zealand but they wouldn't work here? They seem crystal clear, the range is better, you use smaller aerials with no ground plain and they work together with 446 handhelds. I love CB and always have done and no doubt always will, the problems I ...

Re: Better CB

Hi there, I would go for the Maxon CM10, my family have a fleet of them in there tractors and there a solid simple rugged reliable little cb. Another thing I like about them is if you wire it to switch on with your ignition it will switch back on at your channel and not return to channel 9 as defaul...

New tractor, new setup advice

Hi folks, just had my new tractor, need some aerial advice. Putting in a Lafayette trucker in the din slot next to the stereo. Looks smart! Good cb? Now the aerial; with it being a plastic cab roof, if I cut a piece of steel the same diameter as a mag mount, glue it to the centre of the roof and ear...

Re: Which cb?? Interference problems.

yeah stampman the noise occurs when stationary with the engine on or when on the move using the throttle, its ok with the engine off and ignition on. the strange thing is when coasting down a hill (when theres no strain on the tractor) the noise becomes fainter and almost dissapears making it easier...
