This may seem a strange question but if I connected a CB radio to the standard antenna that comes with my car for its stereo would it work if I fitted a filter/splitter to it to attach both the CB and the stereo?

I know its unlikely to achieve a good range but would it work?

Cheers to anyone who knows?

Hi,

No this wouldn't work and would probably damage the output transistors in your CB radio. It is because the stereo antenna would not be tuned anywhere near the CB frequency of 27MHz and the SWR would be off the scale...

We do something that may help you though...

This splitter allows you to replace your stereo antenna with a CB antenna, then use that for both CB and FM stereo use.

Hope this makes sense,
Andy

Cheers, if it replaced my antenna then and added that filter would the wiring in my car for the antenna work with a CB radio or would I need to replace the cable to the antenna?

No unfortunately the cable would need to be replaced as well.

We do a mount and cable here for £8.99...
