Hi all,

I'm new to the world of CB radios, walkie talkies and this forum, I'm hoping you could help me with some questions?

Would these (link removed) work with other CB radios or together? Ie if I brought an additional, older handheld CB radio such as this (link removed) would I be able to tune in to these and communicate?

Basically we're going away as a family with two little ones (both under 10) and would like to keep in touch with them when they roam (phones are out of the question as we'll be in a poor signal area).

I want something sturdy for the kids and to have one each, then I'm looking at getting myself and the other half either an additional pair of the same kind or perhaps an older 'base unit'. Could I tune the additional CB radios into any of these walkie talkies?

Thanks in advance for you help all, sorry if I appear naive, it's a steep learning curve lol.

Cheers everyone!

Hi,

Sorry I removed the links in accordance to rule 1 of our forum.. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1

I can confirm the first two links you put were not CB radios, they were PMR446 radios. These are generally low power handheld devices, which have a 'realistic' range of approx 2 miles. Please ignore any PMR446 handhelds that say a range of more than this, as this would be in extreme circumstances, i.e. from the top of one mountain to the top of another!

We sell a range of PMR446 handhelds here... http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/2-way-radi ... lkies.html. Please note that we don't sell the cheaper toy-like ones that are available from other retailers.

PMR446 is not compatible with CB radio, as PMR446 is on 446Mhz and CB is on 27Mhz.

We sell the only mobile unit available on PMR446 here... http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/licence-fr ... d-gb1.html

If you wanted to use CB radio, the handhelds are more expensive (starting at £109.99 each). But there are more mobile radios available... http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/mobile-cbs.html

Hopefully this has answered your query, if not you can call our experts on 01604 402403.

Andy
