Hi just about to purchase a cb radio mainly for taking up on dales for the day. Question is how long will my car battery last? Should I be thinking of also purchasing a second battery/power source?
Thanks in advance
Dave

Hi Dave,

It depends how big the battery is.

If it was 40AH (amp hours) for instance, this means you should be able to theoretically draw 1 amp for 40 hours.

As most 4 watt CB's draw around 1 amp on transmit then you could use it for 40 hours on constant transmit. However as CB's draw a lot less on receive, then it depends on how often you are transmitting.

On normal use I would imagine a car battery would last a few days before needing a recharge.

Andy
