mobile antenna build or buy ?

hi to all im just getting back (or trying to into) cbs gotta fix the set i bought first(midland77 104 no power ) but then will need a mobile antenna
is it easy to build or are they fairly cheap to buy advice please

better off buying one then you have at least i part you know is right

Agree buy an antenna so you start with your first working part, mag mount or bolt on antenna, home base.

Suppose first check is your inline fuse and test power supply with avo meter.

Home base I've just purchased a Thunderpole Excalibur almost 1m long with u bolts for mast fixing, not the best but discreet, see how it goes.

Past used silver rod, shakespear big stick, boomerang, my excalibur obviously wont work as well as a silver rod, because of length.
