First, Im a newby here, and have joined to get myself up to speed with todays CB's.
I have to fit a radio to my classic mini for a road trip we are planning. Now I understand that it is FM thats used these days in the UK. But my question is about my old COLT 444 unit I have from the 80's. I know it is an AM/FM unit, only allowing 26 FM channels if my memory serves me right. I also remember having to push a button in to talk and pull out to listen (or vise versa!) . This would be a hassle if I was to use it today. BUT......A friend of mine had the same unit, but his had been 'doctored' and had a flick switch at the back that he used when on FM, this meant no frantic button pushing!
Does this make any sense to you guys? Can it still be done?? is it worth it?? or should I just get an FM!!!
An help would be great :D

A 68uf disk cap switched will bring it on or near to UK frequencies only not 1-40 readout. Otherwise it's an eprom and to be honest it isn't worth it IMHO
