Hi guys, first post and im a newb to any radio. Ive got me a classic mini, austin mini city e 1986, just bought a thunderpole t-1000 with mag mount. Initially had the smaller orbiter, just bought the larger to go with the "remote control car" look. Out of interest i bought the SWR-1 from the site with a patch lead. After plugging it in i cant seem to get it to read the FWD.

Using the cal knob i cant seem to get the needle to move at all.

Anyone have any ideas why it might not work. or possible tests i can carry out to check the meter. Ive emailed the sales email just thought id ask the comunity. Cheers all .

Hello
well that's not a good start is it? :(

Things to check if you got some basic test gear?
DVM on ohm continuity check patch cable has got connections and does not have a short.

Are you get a reading in reflect?
briefly remove antenna cable and press ptt switch on mic,do u get any reading?
IF you have a 50 ohm PL259 dummy load, try that into SWR meter on antenna socket side and see if meter reads?

Check you dont have a short or open circuit coax cable from PL250 plug to antenna mount,a digital multimeter will help aid fault finding problem.
IF its a drilled in antenna mount or bootlip mount check for shorts on coax cable.

Last resort reverse SWR meter connection back to front, move switch does needle move?
Maybe bad SWR meter? return

Else return kit to supplier or if cb seems to be getting out OK and picking signals up ,put a call out on ch19 and see if local cbers can help you?

Two handy bits of low cost test equipment to help diagnose faults!
Digital Multimeter
a quality PL259 50 ohm dummy load 50-100w rated

Sorry to hear having troubles, hope you resolve them and get back on air!
