Hi Bruce,

From our experience the MT446 is a nice solid radio, although it isn't water resistant.

We have just had a new radio in that is the most rugged radio we have ever seen, and is waterproof (IP67) and complys to military standards...

It is hard to say the average range as there are so many variables, e.g. terrain, height, conditions, etc.

However approximately the range will be between 1 and 1.5 miles (realistically).

If you were to use them high power (not legal in the uk) then you will get more range.

Does the speaker is powerful ?
What is better to have with this radio ?
Intek SM-007 Acoustic Earpiece & Mic ?
Or :Intek Standard Speaker Mic ?

Hi,

Yes the speaker is quite powerful.

It depends what you are using it for really?

The SM-007 may be better if there is a lot of background noise.

The Intek Standard Speaker Mic is good in various quiet places ( when I ride a bicycle for example with friends ... ) but in noisy places the SM-007 Acoustic Earpiece & Mic could be better !
