Can anyone tell me if the above rig will not only cover the Ameture bands but will it also cover the eu and uk cb bands.

i have posted the link above that takes you to the specs and yes i see that it states it covers
Receive:
0.1-56 MHz, 76-108 MHz, 118-164 MHz, 420-470 MHz
And i note that upon reading that it should receive but will it also transmit.

cheers

it will recieve the UK and EU bands
The 10meter band is 28000 to 29800 kHz.
the EU band is 26.965 to 27.405 . the UK band is 27.60125 to 27.99125 .

TX: 10-160 m + WARC / 6 m / 2 m / 70 cm
RX: 0.1-76 / 108-174 / 420-512 MHz
looking at these specs if its TX starts at 10 meters then it wont transmit on UK or EU unless its been expanded.

I believe it depends on which version you have.

Early versions could do it by software (plug a PC into the CAT socket and run a piece of downloadable software), but later versions required a small surface mounted resister being removed.

Have a look at the Yaesu FT-857 Yahoo group. They will be able to tell you EXACTLY what your specific radio needs doing to it.

the radio can have the all band transmit done very easily , i also have ft857d and atas120 on the car. only problem i found is that the radio loses the automatic repeater function. but this is no loss. radio transmit all bands and atas tunes cb frequencies no problem, also good on 446 tx
