Hi all, Ill be in the market for a home rig very soon and i need advice. I run a Maas DX5000 from my car and its very good but i want something with a bit more punch in my home. I was looking at the Ranger series of amerture radios 10 and 12 meter combined that can easly convert to cover 11 meter.
eg, RCI-69FFC2
AM-FM-SSB-PA 10 Mtr Mobile Radio

RCI-2950DX & 2970N2
AM-FM-SSB-CW 10 & 12 Mtr Mobile Radio

SS-158EDX
10 Meter AM-FM-SSB-CW
Mobile Radio

Voyage VR9000 10 Meter Radio by Ranger - VR9000

Just a few examples of the types im looking at.

Can anyone advise me on one that has some real power and a good antenna to go with it.

Choose any radio you fancy, then purchase an amplifier to increase the power. It's much better to run your rig at low power into the amplifier - and then let the amplifier do all the work.

As for a home based antenna...

Sirio 827
Sirio Gainmaster

These two are going to be in the top three of anybodies wish list.

Although, having said all of the above. You can achieve remarkable results with just 10W into a home made wire dipole when the skip is running.
