i have fitted a springer to the rear spare wheel using a wheel carrier bracket and this is connected to the rig via an extension cable to the rig an intec m110 - plus . now i have another of the same rig that when i key the mic ( the other rig is outside the car with a mag mount antenna) this registers to the rig in the car, but when some one else uses a different type of rig i cant hear them or them hear me what have i done wrong have i blown the rig? i am tempted to get a new rig is it worth it

It sounds to me like your connection to the new Springer and Mount is faulty. If that "extension cable" has a dodgy connector on it it means the rig isn't reaching the aerial. You will hear your other rig, outside the car, as it is very very close and the rig would pick that up with virtually no aerial at all.

First thing to do is to check the SWR of the rig in the vehicle connected to the Springer on the wheelcarrier mount. I'd be willing to bet that the SWR is off the scale.

Fix that, and check again and (hopefully) you won't have blown the M110 in the vehicle and won't need to replace it.

I wouldn't say "can't be", as even Thunderpole might occasionally have a faulty bit of kit . . . say "shouldn't be" or "unlikely to be" ;)

Just check the SWR on the fitted rig... That'll at least tell you whether the problem is in that line somewhere, rather than maybe being a problem with the rig or something else.
