hi all,

here is how you are able to make a 1/4 wave tank whip to a home base antenna,
if you have a steel or a metal gutter on your house or garage what is near your house here is what you will be able to do & what you will need,

as long as your gutter is steel or metal all you will need is one steel gutter mount with a 3/8 adapter to fit your tank whip on to to sit on the gutter mount,

& below is a close up shot of the gutter mount on the gutter below the gutter mount is what we call a balun & can be easily done by just winding the coax round in a circle & tightening the coax up but not essential just make sure you have enough coax to reach from the gutter to your radio. *King*

the std antenna on the daf is quite good needs swring and it is in the wrong place you should get better results if you can side mount it but doing so is not for the faint hearted

Hi Guy's

yep you could use any mobile Antenna as most of them work pretty good with good range on them andyson36 😉

yeah the Tank whip is a cracking full 1/4 wave antenna & is the best Antenna for Homebase or static mobile Andyjcb I'm glad you have yours working great buddy some cracking good contacts you've made there matey 👍

I'm going to tell you guy's something I've experimented with different mobile Antennas & set them all up as a homebase from the original base loaded modulator to the centre loaded modulator what we don't see anymore as I don't think nobody builds the centre loaded version anymore,

& did also use a DV 27 with a ground plane kit & managed some great contacts as the furthest contact was 18 miles away but sadly the DV 27 was only built for the cb frequency 😢
