Just bought 2 t800 cb radio's and the dv27 antenna with 7" magmount , 1 for friend for up coming caravan tour round scotland
Swr'd units in ( got 1.5 on each ) then did a distance test and we only got about 1/2 mile from each other and lost signal , both got nissan navara's 2018
Is there anything were doing wrong

Hi,

The first thing to check on any CB radio with no range or range issues, is the RF gain control.

Make sure the RF gain is turned all the way up (fully clockwise), otherwise the sensitivity of the receive circuit in the radio will be reduced.

Let me know if that doesn't solve the problem as there are other things to check, but 99% of the time we find range issues on a T-800 is caused by this control being turned down.

Andy.

The first thing I thought when reading this is the RF Gain, then I saw that has already been suggested. Was that the issue?

As said by Andy there are many other things to think about, just because the VSWR is reasonable that doesn't mean you have good conditions.
