In 1991 a farming couple retired and sold their farm.

They used the money to build their dream home. A beautiful three storey ranch style house. In a perfect location, ideal for the dreams they hoped to fulfil. For you see this was no ordinary couple, they wanted one thing above all. The thing they wanted formed part of their house and no one had every managed to achieve their joint aim. They would be record breakers and their names would go down in history if only they could achieve their goal.

Slowly they grew to love their house, it truly was just as they have imagined, a smal workshop for him, beautiful kitchen, room to entertain their new found friends, with south facing windows in every room, high ceilings, a wonderful airy space with just the right balance of space and homelyness.

Whilst they grew old together they began to wonder if they had made the right choice to leave farming and to move so far from their family. The farm was sold as their children had no interest in farming and were happy to allow so many years of family history to be passed on to a cousin.

Happiness, they tell me is a thing best shared but still the couple were very content together and enjoyed many trips to visit their children, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren

I'm told their life was as close to ideal as anyone could imagine. I'm sure their were ailments with hindered them but with the pressure of work, money, DEFRA and god knows what else taken away the aches and pains were no doubt easier to cope with

They i'm informed would take longs drives form their home into the surrounding countryside, taking in the breath taking views, all the time thankful they had achieved their life long ambition and proving that despite their age they were capable of this almost impossble task

Eventually, on one of these outings they happened upon a bear.

What colour was the bear?

For more points tell me what the ambition would of been should above actually taken place as detailed.

You have 12 navy socks and 12 white socks mixed up in a drawer. It's early in the morning and you don't have a light to see them. How many socks must you pull out of the drawer to be sure of getting a matched pair?

@ Madfish,

Your first answer was incorrect for a matching or matched pair i.e at least two socks the same colour.

Stampman, is that sarcasm?

Thank you stampman,

I assure you i have a small stash of teasers

Ok to solve this one before folkses get fed up it's 14.

You need to pull out at least 14 socks to be guaranteed to get at least 2 of the same colour. Course how you will see which ones are the right colour is beyond me.

I am the owner of a pet store. If I put in one canary per cage, I have one bird too many. If I put in two canaries per cage, I have one cage too many. How many cages and canaries do I have?
