New 5/8 antenna on the market, can be seen at www.gain-master.it and seems to really be a worker. I have mine and it compares well to the antennas have tested it against, almost 1 1/2 S points up on the Imax and that was a shock can tell you. They are in the UK it seems? Not so sure but take a look at this link and you see live and direct the difference between the antenna and a Shakesphere Army Big Stick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnvJr4FJGEw It is a new design, new ideas and somehow it really does make a difference. Expensive, thats the thing but seems to be worth the price.. I have spoken to 30 countries on mine in a little over 1 week on 11m and 10m including yesterday around the UK with a Harry III with some nice sporadic e conditions

yeah, have been following you and others on this one.
I have an 827 on one of my farm buildings and really hate the sight of the long radials, the height doesn't bother me at all.

Do you have an idea of how much better it is than the 827

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris, Thats a real good question and can only answer based on 1 test we did here same day as upped the Gain Master. The 827 is not mine and we put it around 40ft from the Gain Master and the 827 was S1 lower than the Master. We did the same idea with a Imax and also some others. The people i or my friends called did not know what antenna we used so they could not fudge any issues. Not technical, Not scientific but was the best we could do as was snowing when we raised the antenna

Simon,
have you (or anyone else for that matter) had any experience with a sirio vector 4000. They do a 'new' version, what's new about it.(apart from it being better :? )
In terms of performance in relation to an 827 and gainmaster.
Also is very tall, will the wind bend or snap it off....

Thanks
Chris

Morning Chris,

Thanks for the message and sadly not one for me. 5/8 is hard enough here to have in the air as the antenna sits on the roof. It is my understanding that the new antenna is stronger made using different materials but the rest am not sure. Drop them an email, they are always responding to mine and many others so maybe that can enlighten the darkness

Regards
Simon

have to say that I really like the sound of the gainmaster, no nasty radials etc. Bet the vector isn't much of an improvement over the gainmaster and you have a high risk of it coming down.

Think I'll run the 827 for now and sometime, move to a gainmaster, perhaps after it's been out for a year or so, incase they change something on it.

Thanks Simon

Wow that is some news. Let us know how it gets on. We tested here v 827 and was almost S2 up on rx and the same with tx (12watts used on both antennas)

hi all
well havent had alot of time on the radio with my gainmaster but what time i have had been getting great reports ive had breakers 45miles away sayin ive gone up 2-2.5 s points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D> =D> =D> even some stations say they can now hear me and couldnt with my 827!!! so all in all WOW! :D :D :D very happy will give it a good test over the next couple weeks as i got some time off over christmas and there are alot of dx events happen ing on diff modes!

for info purposes the gainmaster is on the same poles exactley the same height in the same location on the same coax with a slightly lower swr!

overall =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Thanks for the news and that is indeed a big difference. I was part of a test yesterday versus a Vector 4000 and the GM was the winner against it. At the same height the GM was almost S2 higher than the Vector 4000 but when the 4000 was installed on a 6m pole the difference was gone and the Vector was a little stronger. This was with aircell coax, same 20m run of cable and the same radio and power. Nice to know really that this antenna does cut the mustard as they say. I have heard now almost all good reports. Sadly they are expensive and also sadly they would be nicer with a little higher power handling when used 10m but I am not moaning, last week sent one to Lesotho to someone who uses CB there. Also Australia, New Zealand and Philippines have been emailing the factory for shipping information so amazing really.

Now we need wait more people and more tests but seems they have got something right indeed with this antenna =D>
