I use a 1.65m Voyager and a 6" mag and have had it up to 90MPH. So in a word, yes they do work, and my swr is about 1.2 accross the UK40.

I'll add to the general chorus of positive vibes for mag mounts on vehicles.

Just some words of caution though:

Be careful about going into multi-story car parks, going under low hanging trees, or entering areas with height restrictions. If they hit the antenna down low enough, it can shove the mag mount across your paint work. This is not good and requires extensive polishing to get the marks out.

Be careful when lifting your mag mount off. Keep the antenna on it and use the base of the antenna to lever the mag mount off cleanly.

Don't worry about speed, I've had ***mph (on a closed road circuit, occifer! :P ) with no problems.

the best mag is the Wilson with adaptor to a 3/8 fitting how about fitting a roof bar with a mirror mount on it then when the car goes back you just remove the roof bar no damage and no sun fade where the MAG has been

I've been using Magmounts for 20 years, never used anything else and never had any problems.

Like you, used to have company car and was easy to remove for multi-story carparks or if parking in a very bad area etc.

Otherwise, it stays on all the time and have currently got massive stainless Orbiter and also Dual-Band Amateur Antenna, yes, two magmounts on the roof, one behind the other.

Mine are the 7" Turbos just to be sure as sometimes go rather fast and if into a headwind, you never know lol.

I just feed the wires through the hatchback or passenger door, whatever is easiest depending on what car I've had at the time.

Hope that helps?
