Hi,
Have been looking at the Sirio Hi-Power 4000 and the K40. Are they any good ?
Have also been looking at the Wilson's but they're pretty pricey TBH !
Or if you have any alternatives will be wiling to check them out.
Cheers

I have one of the smaller Wilsons and it just seems to suck in signals... might even go for a 1000 when my tax rebate comes through

Okay so either the Wilson 1000 or Sirio Hi-Power 4000 ..
Hmm time for a vote

got this from a radio forum
I've done back to back tests with a Megawatt 4000 and a Wilson 1000 transmitting from 1700ft ASL at my portable location.
Have to say on groundwave the Wilson edged it. Three QSO's - all similar on the RX. On the TX over a 40 mile contact the TX was 1 full S point stronger. On the second QSO over 130miles the TX signal was a 3 on both antenna's but slightly louder audio on the Wilson. On the 3rd QSO over 50 miles the 2 antenna's were identical on the TX.
Conclusion was that surprisingly the Wilson 1000 slightly outperformed the Sirio Megawatt 4000 in those 3 particular contacts.
(same vehicle, roof postion, power, radio & location used for each)
well there you have it the wilson 1000 is the best mobile antenna you can buy

Ok, I'm new to this forum, and been away from cb for many years, but back in the day ( when I were a lad), the K40 was THE best (mobile) antenna money could buy, and they also made a power mike ( I had one once) so have things moved on that much, has the K40's crown slipped??
Also back in the day the local rig doctor would tweak your power output to about 8 watts from the pot on the mother board, and ( I think ) tweak the RF too all for about £5.Is that kind of modification still possible, or is it just cheaper/better to get an amp?
And of course the mag mount was considered the poor cousin to a "propper" fixed mount.

hi big bob
wilson 1000 is king
and why try and kill a radio when you can buy a 100 watt fm amp for £35
