if there were more people on the air i would ask for a radio check and fiddle a bit,
or is there a manual i can download ??

also on my rig i have options of am lsb hsb cw uk sl etc etc (cobra 148gtl dx) never really knew what all the settings were for but these days with the help of internet maybe i will learn something,,

also with all these channel combinations , is there a certain channel that is used for talking mega distance or do you flick through and hit pot luck,,

cw is for morse code
am is not used much in the uk a few truckers use it
fm uk legal band
usb uper side band
lsb lower side band

usb lsb are your sideband freq used for dx work
when the skip is good your radio will come alive from all over the world
on 27.555 the int calling channel

if you dont no your way round a sideband radio you will never find the freq you need\
you need to buy a freq counter or you will have no chance
