Newbie CB`er here again with another "Probably Obvious" question...

I have a Team Me4, which as you are probably aware doesnt come with a signal meter...

So my questions are :

1. Are Signal Meters Beneficial And If So, For What Purpose(s)...
2. Can you buy add-on, external signal meters to plug into the back of your cb... ?

As always, comments much appreciated...

Signal meter is only a guess meter and honestly what does matter what signal they are doing to you, so long as you can hear em.

Stampman is, as usual, quite right when he says that focussing too much on an S-Meter can ' drive you daft and give you an inferiority complex '. But there are, albeit rare, occasions when they're useful:

It’s not just for responding to the inevitable “can someone give me a rig-check please” which is always difficult if you don’t have an S-Meter, but when DXing it can be helpful if you’re able to see what signal strength is coming in.
There is one occasion when a clear S-Meter is very useful indeed, and that’s if you’re into Very Serious DXing and using a Yagi or Beam antenna – the S-Meter is the simplest way to direct the beam.

As for ‘ search on the net and you will find ’, you must be using a different net to me Stampman ‘cos I’ve looked and only ever found one, in Germany, at about 50 Euro plus postage. I think it’d be easier to find a UK site that sells Rocking-horse Manure.
