I previously had a Team ME-4 which worked ok, without any intereference noise. I now have a Midland Alan 78 Plus Multi in the same car, mounted the same way, with the same antenna and is SWRed ok....
However, I now seem to have a lot of interference on the radio when I accelerate or switch on the windscreen wipers
Any thoughts oh wise ones... [-o<

I want to tell you my setup but you might rob me

Generally, a Low-Pass / TVI filter is there to prevent interference FROM the CB, not to assist in removing interference the CB is receiving.
The cause of your new, irritating noises may simply be that the Midland Alan is more sensitive to the higher frequencies than the Team was. The first thing is to find out whether the noise is coming into the Cb via the antenna (or antenna lead) or if the radio is picking it up through the case or power lead. Try unplugging the aerial then run the engine and the wipers, if the noise goes away it's coming from the aerial, if it's still noisy it's probably the power lead (or the case). As a first fix, I'd suggest some trying some clip-on Ferrites on the antenna or on the power lead going into the Midland (depending on the outcome of the aerial noise test).
If it's NOT the antenna lead, then a choke type ferrite on the power lead is worth a try too, whereas if it IS the antenna, try double grounding both ends of the coax - i.e. make a separate earth wires to the outside of the aerial lead at the radio end and at the antenna end.
Good luck

sounds like a bad earth but the midland has a wider filter system in it so that wont help try checking the earth straps for a fulty one and make sure they have good contacts at bopth ends

if it anit broke dont fix it
