I am torn between the Ranger 2950 and 2970 but don't know which one to go for.
Will the 150 Watts on the 2970 get out much further than the 25 Watts on the 2950?
Is it actually going to make much difference on TX?
If you're talking about getting Worldwide on the 150w but only Europe on 25w than I will spend the extra on the 2970.
Anybody got one of these rigs, I have been told they're great and reliable?
25 Watts or 150 Watts

Just purchased off Cobraworxshopz a new Ranger 2950.
They said they haven't ever had one back for repair but currently have 40 Galaxies and tons of Magnums waiting for repairs so I am very happy.
Please hurry Mr Postman, I am not very patient!
26 TM 233 (can't wait)

Ranger should be arriving Monday by Mr Parcel Force.
Company from Kettering was supposed to be putting up my Thunderpole today but he called to say he couldn't get the van off his drive due to snow. So now booked in for Christmas Eve morning.
Will keep you all posted, can't wait!
(I would have prefered the old style rig such as a Magnum S9 but it was almost a swear word when ordering my Ranger, so am glad to have made the right choice)
Evidently, the USA are coming through at the moment (a lot this last week) on sideband in case anybody is interested?

prefer ranger anyday to the magnums both in looks and operating, 2970 and all the other 100 watt radio all suffered very poor reliabilty as most had inefficient cooling and heatsinks also lot of people running them up naff systems..lol

dont use amps prefer to use radio off its own power and run it up a efficient antenna system .. but i do know where your coming from....seen things like people running alinco dx70th up silver rods on 6.6 megs and then blaming the radio for packing up lol....

Can anybody recommend a small amp to give me 100 watts from my Ranger 2950.
I think it would be good to let the radio "cruise" along and for the cheaper amp to do the donkey work.
Suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to use on sideband, mainly 26/27MHz area. My Power Supply will give me 20 Amps so that should be OK??
Cheers guys!
