Indeed - at least I didn't the whistling idiot much.

Some music, plus a few locals testing roger bleeps and echo mics and chatting on 555 at the height of the skip.

There's always a few that try to spoil it for everyone :(

great topic, for static mobiile any mobile well work great what people realy need is something with a long coil like the red devil or anything centre loaded or top loaded http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/large-cb-a ... devil.html

but if your looking for a home base antenna to stick on a hill i would go for antenna like a 1/4 sirio starduster m-400 or a 5/8 wave silver rod,

shakespeare Big Stick... is ok
A-99 ...is better and extremly broadbanded
Imax-2000 ... very bradbanded and is better then both A-99 and big stick

Well ive recently tried my 5/8 silver rod and it's barely better than my one off 80's magmount antenna so ive stuck with that but ive just bought a 1/4 tank whip to try as ive heard good things about them! Will be interesting!

good luck with that one as the swr is not that easy to get down but once you do get the swr below 1.5 should do very well for you m8

Hmm got the tankwhip, swr is 1.6/7 on 1 And 40 so thats not too good.. And it also doesnt receive as well as my 80's made antenna.. Looks like il just go all out and buy an Imax 2000 for static mobile use as my silver rod isnt even 1 s point better than my magmount!

I'm happy with the Hustler HF Mobile Antenna System. I only use it static 'cause it's so big. It consists of a big ball mount on the roof of the car, a mast and then Supet Resonators which sit on top of the mast. Had some great dx with it.

So ive ended up buying a sirio gainmaster, and made a base that I can park the car onto, and then I so far have 11ft of poles to connect to that and chuck the sirio on top of that.. Cant wait to try it this weekend! Just hope the poles get podercoated in time and receive the straight pipe joiners in time aswell!

yeah a lot of people used to like the antron & many still do people it is good against bad winds the downside of the antenna is that it is only a half wave

The Imax 2000 EXPOSED! http://www.video-observer.com/imax/imax2000.htm

& the sirio gain master is a 5/8 wave centre fed vertical dipole

here is a review from somebody who has tested a modulator vs sirioo 4000 against the 7ft thunderstick,

I have used the 7ft thunderstick and compared it at the time to my modulator and sirio 4000, it was almost an s point better on receive than both the mod and the sirio, and reports back suggested the tx was also improved slightly, I found very little or no difference between the mod and the sirio.
