Here is a table on ground wave propagation. Ground wave worbett with ¼ wave antenna will work down to ⅛ wave antenna (reduced range)
Table is ¼ to ⅜ wave antenna and 10 feet of coaxial cable
½ wave is about 1.25 great depending on conditions and height of antenna
