Hi all. I used to have a half wave on the top of a 20ft scaff pole which was bolted to the back of my garage but some of the neighbours got arsey and snitched me into the council complaining about it... Never even actually came and talked to me about it first! Pussys!
Anyways, so yeah i had to take it down and have been running a stinger on a 8X6 sheet of 5mm thick steel which is actually giving me a good swr of 1.1 but i can't get out very far on it and enquired today with my local council about the laws and regulations regarding how high it can be before i need planning permission...

And nobodoy i spoke to could give me an answer...

I spoke to both the planning AND enforcement departments and they were all utterly clueless, but before i go and wang up another pole i'd like to know what's what and how far i can go and not have the neighbours sticking their oars in and impeeding their ignorance and selfishness on my hobby... [-(
I did consider biting the bullet and paying the 150 squid planning permission fee but if there's dickhead neigbours around what are the chances of it actually going through?
Would probably be worth it though so i could sit there nice and smug and effectively stick two fingers up at them whilst i crack out on the old radio.

Soooo, was just wondering if there's anyone on here that can give me a bit of advice regarding the above. Would be VERY much appreciated.

he said if you put it up and some one complaned you have a right to make a appeal against taking it down and the people/person who complained may either have to get so many signeturs by a date e.g 200 in 3 months or a person will come to your house from the council and ask you what it used for and check its safely fitted and then will speak to the people who complained in witch you + the people/person come to an agrement

I tried to appeal before but the council said if it wasnt taken down by a certain date i'd get fined.

sounds like the only road is planning permission but get down to the local libery and do some digging into planning laws see if you need it if you use tk brackets on the side of the house and keep it level withe the tv mast on the chimney

just a thought

What needs permission?

Strictly speaking most antenna systems require planning permission unless the installation falls under one or more of the following categories:-

The antenna is concsidered 'permitted development' (usually types simular to TV antennas and ground mount antennas up to 3m in height etc, but some local councils' allow more).
The Antenna/mast has been present for four years or more and you can prove it. A confirmation letter from your neighbours is usually enough (single residential development only).
The Antenna/mast is present for less than 28 days per annum.
The antenna/mast is truly mobile.

Really the local council SHOULD know the regs and be able to tell you....I would persist in your enquiries with them!

its not on the house, my parent's wouldn't allow it. it has to go on the back of our detached garage.

Finally managed to get some answers today.. Apparently anything over 3m high needs planning persmission.

Doh.

now i got permission from my council for my antenna no probs as long as its safe and put up right
it makes me laugh HOW UGLY these satellite dishs are and cb antennas are not realy that bad !!
if you have no joy try a wire di pole or put your antenna in a tree lol :D #-o

that true iv seen these huge sky dish's round here coted in rust hanging off the side the house look like its going to fall and then the neighbours complane about a safley thin antenna mounted on the house god people these days

Well try this out there was a cb shop in my town back in the 80s it was on the end of a block shops,it had a (other company) 4 on the stack on the roof well it was windy one night next thing was the police closed the road off,as it was laying on the road with the stack aswell. [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X

thats very true cam !! but as long as the antenna is put up right then there should be no problems :lol:
